We are still amazed at the outpouring of support for this project! It allowed me the opportunity to show Brittany that, when we do things in line with God's will, he will bless it in ways we can't even imagine! Just over a week ago, Brittany was stressing out about reaching her goal and look at what she ended up raising!
This project brought on so many witnessing opportunities for Brittany. One that really warmed my heart was at Michael's craft store where the sales associate asked Brittany what all the flip flops were for that she was buying(some people gave her money to go buy sandals). I will never forget what she said! "They are for orphans that have to use soda bottles to make sandals. That can't be very comfortable. So we are making sure they have shoes. And we tell them about God" I just LOVE this girl!
As if to just reiterate to me again that she is getting it and that this is more than just collecting sandals, today at the drop off, she was faced with a choice. A choice to be recognized as an individual for raising 196 sandals or for her group (AHG) to be recognized. Without a beat, she said, just put it under AHG! My eyes welled up, she gets it. She's doing something for someone that can't give anything back to her and she doesn't need the recognition, a prize, to make her feel like she has done this really awesome thing!
So thank you! Thank you Grandma, Debbie, Trisha, Kathleen and John, Jennifer, Nancy, Athena, Anonymous, Mrs. Rachel(Brit's Sunday school leader), Nana and Pop, Roeder family, Paola, Karen, Andrea, and Ryan. Without all your help, this wouldn't have been possible!
